Description: This presentation will teach parents and educators about Auditory Processing Disorder, with special considerations for gifted asynchronous learners, including mental health implications. We will discuss development from a bottom-up perspective taking a holistic, whole brain view to help students maximize learning and emotional well-being.
Participant Outcomes: Parents and teachers will be taught about the profound impact of Auditory Processing Disorders (APD) on the student. Effective strategies to support children with APD across environments will be discussed. We will explain the direct link between motor skill development and learning potential, and the ways in which neurodevelopmental delays lead to brain imbalances and inhibit auditory processing abilities. We will present a holistic, team approach that follows the development of the brain from bottom to top. We will discuss how to ensure that students have the proper brain infrastructure to support auditory skill development. A strong body of research will be referenced throughout the presentation.
