Description: A Socratic Seminar is a student-led discussion, inspired by Socrates' method of inquiry, where students ask and answer questions, share ideas, and engage in critical thinking about a topic. The questions encourage independent, higher level thinking which promotes student ownership of learning. The teacher is a facilitator who observes and guides instruction. Students of all abilities can benefit from the Socratic Seminar. Practice using this strategy in your classroom.
