So...You Want to Facilitate a Parent/Caregiver Group? Take a Chance to Learn How!

Description: In this session, Dal and Jackie Drummer, will share their decades of experience facilitating parent/caregiver groups. They will help participants understand the unique social and emotional needs of gifted children/adolescents and their families, and the topics that families most often want to discuss. Additionally, they will share tips for successful planning and group facilitation, and allow time for participants to participate and practice their newly found skills. Come prepared to know, understand, and do!


Participant Outcomes: 

  1. Participants (educators and parents/caregivers) will know and understand the most common characteristics of gifted children, adolescents, and adults.
  2. Participants will know and understand the topics that most concern parents and caregivers as they raise their children. They will know and understand characteristics of gifted adults as well.
  3. Participants will learn and practice effective techniques for facilitating parent meetings - gracefully opening a meeting, ensuring confidentiality, effectively managing the flow of a meeting, sharing resources, and closing a meeting with hopefulness and joy.
