Jeff Zimpel

Jeff Zimpel – interdisciplinary artist, curator, and educator – composes site-specific installations, inviting creative participation from those who encounter his Living Studio. Jeff balances his art and work with a life in dialogue with the other-than-human world. Informed by his lifelong relationship with the forests of Northern Wisconsin, his studio practice is focused on the curious nature of color, on a deep exploration of the world of mark-making, and on encouraging an ecological approach to living and making. Jeff received his MFA in Art & Social Engagement from UW-Milwaukee (‘21). After ten years teaching art and design at the secondary and collegiate levels, he now serves as the Artist in Residence Curator at Arts @ Large – an arts-education non-profit in the heart of Walker’s Point, Milwaukee.
