Help! I'm a New Coordinator

Description: Feeling overwhelmed by your new role at a G/T coordinator? Not sure where to start? This extended conference session will help guide you in developing some initial steps, including what questions you should ask and what to look for and think about as you either strengthen or build a gifted program in your school or district. Bring your questions, engage, and find a network to support you!

Participant Outcomes: 

  1. Participants will understand the role of gifted and talented coordinators in their school district.
  2. Participants will understand different methods of identification used in gifted education, including measurements that are valid and reliable with twice and thrice exceptional students.
  3. Participants will understand the unique social and emotional needs of gifted students.
  4. Participants will be able to analyze and evaluate current gifted and talented programming in their district, and develop plans to strengthen programming.
  5. Participants will be able to utilize strategies to engage parents, school governance boards, and the community.
  6. Participants will be able to network with others who share the same goals and dreams for gifted education.
