WATG Board Enjoys Face-to-Face Meeting

The pandemic has gotten many of us familiar with virtual meetings. “Zoom” has become a part of our language. The virtual world has allowed many to keep their businesses going and helped others keep in touch with loved ones. The Wisconsin Association for Talented and Gifted’s (WATG) Board is well versed in virtual meetings too. Being a statewide organization, we’ve always had to find ways to connect that weren’t always in person. Before “zooming” on our devices, we actually all hopped onto a big conference call to hold our monthly meetings! So, “seeing” each other, even on a computer, was still a plus. However, it still doesn’t replace sitting in the same room with one another. 

That’s why this past June was an exciting month for our Board of Directors.  We were able to hold our first face-to-face meeting since before the pandemic! It was a good time to sit down and talk with everyone, get to know our new board members better, and get reacquainted with long-time friends.

However, the meeting wasn’t all social; the group accomplished a lot. They looked ahead to a future strategic planning session and spent time planning details of the upcoming fall conference,October 3-4 at the Wilderness Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells.  Many of our board members haven’t been a part of planning an in-person WATG conference, so it was refreshing (and necessary) to examine each day of the conference with all of the tasks to be accomplished.
