CESA #1 PAGE has been in existence for over twenty years, PAGE was founded as a cooperative effort among many of the school districts in Southeastern WI.  Many districts wanted to offer gifted workshops, family events, and advocacy awareness activities, but were constrained by their individual district budgets.  In pooling their resources, these districts found that they could bring in high-profile speakers, plan and deliver quality enrichment activities for kids and families, educate parents and teachers, and advocate for gifted education in their local districts.  Some of the highly successful activities of PAGE include:
  • Speakers: Jan Davidson from the Davidson Institute, Felicia Dixon, author of The Handbook of Secondary Gifted Education, and Sylvia Rimm, author of many definitive books on parenting gifted kids
  • Parent to Parent Evenings: Facilitated discussions on parenting gifted kids
  • Student Events: Unplugged Trivia Nights, Writer’s Workshops, Comedy Sportz, Shakespeare Evening, Self-Advocacy, Preparing for College, Stamping and Book Design, Opportunity Fairs, Engineering Events, and more
  • Books: Purchase of books on gifted education and parenting for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Library System, the Waukesha Library System, and the Racine Library System
  • The fun and camaraderie of working together on an important mission!

CESA #1 PAGE is a working committee, with one educator and one parent from each participating district.  Together, these highly motivated individuals have created opportunities that have touched lives of thousands of gifted kids and their families over the years.  At their recent May 2015 meeting, the group changed their formal name from Parent Advocates for Gifted Education to  Partners for the Advancement of Gifted Education, to more clearly emphasize their unique partnership.  For more information, and to see their calendar of events, contact www.cesaonepage.org
