Resources

Advocacy work raises awareness of gifted students and their learning needs at the individual, school, district and state levels. Wisconsin residents can find their state legislators here.

The following resources can be used to help these efforts:

Education Forward
DPI's recommendations for Gifted/Talented instructional programming during the pandemic.

Federal CRRSSA Funding
DPI's recommendations for use of CRRSSA (Covid Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act) funds for gifted education

(scroll down to "gifted and talented learners")

Gifted and Talented Pupils
DPI's main website for gifted education, including information on laws and regulations, grants, and numerous resources for identification and programming.

Kids Forward Advocacy Toolkit
Provides information for advocates at the state level in Wisconsin. The guide explains the state budget process and timing for advocates to take action.

National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC)
NAGC organizes advocacy efforts at the federal, state, and local levels, but needs advocates on the ground to create positive and lasting change for gifted students.
The Davidson Institute
The Davidson Institute supports profoundly gifted students and their families. This article provides strategies on how to advocate for your gifted student in a school setting.
Wisconsin Public Education Network (WPEN)
Offers various advocacy events and training opportunities across the state
